Daily Czech Privacy Policy

SkyBear Labs LLC (“SkyBear Labs,” “we,” or “us”) publishes Daily Czech for Android (package name: com.dailyczech.app). This policy explains how Daily Czech handles information and how you can remove it. Our website has a separate website privacy policy.

Learning data stays in the app’s local storage

Daily Czech does not require a SkyBear Labs account. We do not receive your learning progress on our servers, and the app does not include advertising or third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. Android backup and platform services are explained below.

The app stores the following on your device to provide its features:

• Known and learning phrase marks, phrase-view history, and review activity.
• Quiz attempts, including the phrase, exercise mode, result, and time.
• Daily learning sessions and progress used for study statistics and reminders.
• Preferences such as study goals, theme, audio settings, reminder times, and the grammatical gender selected for learning content.
• Installation date and local feature-access settings.

These records personalize practice, show your progress, remember your choices, and schedule reminders. The app does not send these records to an advertising service.

Android backup and device transfer

Daily Czech allows Android to back up app data. Depending on your device, Android version, and backup settings, local app data may be included in a backup associated with your Google account or transferred to another device. SkyBear Labs does not operate or have access to those backups. Backup and transfer are managed by your device and backup provider under their settings and privacy policies.

Manage backup through your Android or Google account settings. Deleting local app data does not necessarily delete an existing backup; restoring a backup may restore learning data and preferences.

Permissions, reminders, and audio

On supported Android versions, the app asks for notification permission to show learning reminders. You can turn reminders off in Daily Czech settings or revoke notification permission in Android settings. Reminder scheduling runs on your device.

The app uses Android’s foreground media-playback service to play bundled audio, including in the background. Playing this audio does not require microphone access and does not record your voice. Daily Czech does not request camera, contacts, or location access.

Google Play and other platform services

Daily Czech does not request the Android Internet permission. Its phrase catalogue, audio, and display font are bundled with the app, so the app itself makes no network requests.

Google Play, Android, and your device manufacturer may separately process information for distribution, device diagnostics, backup, and other platform functions according to your settings and their policies. These services are distinct from an app analytics SDK. See Google’s Privacy Policy for information about Google services.

When you contact us or visit our website

If you email us for support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send, such as a description of a problem or a screenshot. Please avoid sending unnecessary personal information. We use the information to answer your request and troubleshoot the problem; support communications are handled through our email service providers.

Opening this policy or another SkyBear Labs web page involves our website hosting and web analytics services. Submitting its contact form also uses our email delivery provider. See the website policyfor details of Vercel, Google Analytics, and Resend. Visiting our website does not give us access to Daily Czech’s local learning records.

Sharing and security

We do not sell or rent Daily Czech learning data or support information, or use it for targeted advertising. We may disclose support correspondence to service providers who help us respond, or where necessary to comply with law or protect people and our legal rights. Local app data is protected by Android’s app storage controls. Keep your device secure; no storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Retention and deletion

Local learning records and preferences remain until you remove them or the device removes the app’s storage. To erase all local Daily Czech data, open Android Settings, select Apps, then Daily Czech, then Storage (or Storage & cache), and choose Clear storage or Clear data. Menu names vary by device. Uninstalling normally also removes the app’s local data. These actions erase your local progress and preferences.

The app’s Reset all progress action in Settings erases your study records but keeps your preferences; it is not a substitute for clearing all app storage. Manage or delete backups separately through your backup provider. We cannot retrieve or remotely delete records that are stored only on your device or in your personal device backup. There is no SkyBear Labs account in Daily Czech to delete.

We retain support correspondence for as long as needed to resolve your request and handle related follow-up, unless longer retention is needed to meet a legal obligation or resolve a dispute. You can request deletion by emailing hello [at] skybearlabs.com and identifying your prior correspondence. We may ask for enough information to verify that it is yours. If we must retain some information, we will explain the reason when responding.

Your choices and children’s privacy

You can change preferences or disable reminders in the app, revoke notification permission in Android settings, clear local data, and manage device backups. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information you sent us, or to object to or restrict its use. Contact us to exercise those rights.

The app does not ask for a date of birth or create user profiles on our servers. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through a support request, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate. Parents or guardians can use the same device-storage and backup controls described above to remove locally stored learning data.

Policy changes

We will update this policy when information handling changes and revise the effective date above. We will provide additional notice and obtain consent where required before using information for a new purpose that requires it.
